7g of HNO₃ present in 100 ml of solution.

A solution of HNO₃ is 5% (w/W).

We have to find the mass of HNO₃ present in 100ml of solution (density of solution = 1.4 g/ml).

Here, A solution of HNO₃ is 5% (w/W), It means, 5g of HNO₃ is present in 100g of solution.

Density of solution is 1.4 g/ml [ 1 cm³ = 1 ml ∴ 1 g/cm³ = 1g/ml ]

∴ volume of solution = mass of solution/density of solution

                                   = 100g/1.4g/ml = 71.428 ml

∴ 5g of HNO₃ is present in 71.428 ml of solution.

∴ 5/71.428 × 100g  = 7 g of HNO₃ is present in 100ml of solution.

Therefore 7g of HNO₃ present in 100ml of solution.
