(1) .Substance x is a calcium oxide whose solution we use in water which is used for white washing. There fore the substance x is Cao.

(2). Calcium oxide reacts Vigorously with water to produce slaked lime [Calcium hydroxide] releasing a large amount of heat.

Cao + H2o gives raise to Ca[oH]2
