The wavelength of the sound wave, λ = 17.5 cm = 0.175 m

We have the equation:

Speed = frequency × wavelength

        v = fλ

∴ Speed , v = 3000 × 0.175

                   = 525 m/s

The equation of speed is given as;

Speed = distance / time

⇒ Time = distance / speed

So the time taken by the wave to travel a distance of 1.5 Km will be:

Time = 1500 / 525            [∵ 1.5 Km = 1500 m]

         = 2.86 s
