A spcecraft flying in straight course with velocity 75km per sec fires its rocket motor for 6sec.At the end of this time its speed is 120 km per sec in the same direction.find distance travelled by space craft in first 10sec after the rocket motor were started the motor having been in action for only 6 sec.

u = 75 kmph = 75*5/18 = 125/6 m/s
During the time (t=6 s) the rocket motor is fired or switched on, there is an (uniform) acceleration.
Average speed during the 6 sec. = (75+ 120)/2 = 97.5 kmph
Distance traveled during this time = 97.5 * 5/18 * 6 = 162.5 m

Distance traveled during 7th, to 10 sec = 120 *5/18 * 4 = 800/6 m
Total distance = 162.5 + 133.3 = 295.8 m
