Please explain me the meaning of the following lines :- And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black . Oh , I kept the first for another day ! Yet knowing how way leads on to way , I doubted if I should ever come back .

Both the paths looked the same. They seemed to be covered with an equal amount of leaves. It did not look like anyone had stepped on any of the paths, which is why no leaves had been walked upon and hence the leaves had not turned black.  The speaker decided to take the second path and leave the first path to be explored another day. In her/his heart of hearts however, the speaker knew that she/he would probably never come back to the same fork in the road again.

These lines refer to how we make decisions in life. Though we do not quite know where either path will lead, we need to make a choice. Each decision affects our lives. It is not possible to come back to the same spot and change the decision taken in the past.
