=> a² + 25a - 54
=> a² + 27a - 2a - 54
=> a(a + 27) - 2(a + 27)
=> (a + 27)(a - 2)

Using factorisation method :-
=> a² + (27 - 2) a - 54
=> a² + 27a - 2a - 54
=> a (a + 27) - 2 (a + 27)
=> (a + 27) (a - 2)
For finding zeroes :-
=> a + 27 = 0 and a - 2 = 0
=> a = -27 and a = 2
Therefore, a = -27 and 2
