Let the length of the rectangle is 'x' cm.

(i)

We know that Area of square = s^2

Given that Side of square  = 18cm.

So, Area of square = 18^2 = 324.   ----- (1)

(ii)

We know that Area of rectangle = length * breadth.

Given that Width of rectangle = 12cm.

Area of rectangle = x * 12.     ----- (2)

Given that A square and rectangle have equal areas.

= > 324 = x * 12

= > 324/12 = x

= > x = 27.

Therefore, length of rectangle = 27cm.

Hope it helps!

kaffi61: ok
kaffi61: wait
kaffi61: it's complete
PADMINI: @kaffi61 , if the answer is perimeter of rectangle , then it should be 51 . not 5120 cm
PADMINI: sometimes answers in text book are printed wrongly. so don't go through it .

Given :

Areas of square and Rectangle are same -

Area of square = side x side

Given side = 18 cm

Area of square = 18 x 18 = 324 sq cm

_____________________________

Given , Rectangle breadth = 12 cm

Area of rectangle = 324 sq cm

Area of rectangle = length x breadth

324 = length x 12

length = 324 ÷ 12

length = 27 cm.

kaffi61: but one more answer is there that is 512.
siddhartharao77: Madam delete my answer!
PADMINI: @kaffi but in the question it was given to find only the length of the rectangle
PADMINI: your answer is also correct @siddartharao77 . then why deleting
siddhartharao77: reported !
