There are two formulae which you can derive for the value of a2+b2

We know,

(a+b)^2=a^2+2ab+b^2

Hence, a^2+b^2=(a+b)^2−2ab

Similarly,

Since, (a−b)^2=a^2−2ab+b^2

Hence, a^2+b^2=(a−b)^2+2ab
