Given :- A square is drawn on the altitude of an equilateral triangle of side 2m what is the area of the square ? what is the altitude of the triangle ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • Altitude of an equilateral triangle of side 'a' is = (√3a/2) .

given that,

→ side of an equilateral triangle = 2m.

Therefore,

→ Altitude of the equilateral triangle = (2√3/2) = 3 m.

Now, we have given that, a square is drawn on the altitude of given equilateral triangle .

So,

Each side of square = Altitude of the equilateral triangle .

→ Side of square = √3 m.

Therefore,

→ Area of square = (side)² = (√3)² = 3 . (Ans.)

Hence, Altitude of the equilateral triangle is 3 m and Area of Square drawn on altitude is 3m².
