A steel wire 100 cm long has mass of 10 gm. It is stretched by a tension of 400 N. Find the frequency of the wire in fundamental mode of vibration.

μ = m/l

μ = 0.01/1

μ = 0.01 kg/m

Tension in the string is given

Velocity of transverse waves through string is given by

v = √(T/μ)

v = √(400/0.01)
