A steel wire has a length of 2 m at 20°C. Its length becomes 2.01 m at 120°C.
Calculate coefficient of linear expansion α of the material of wire

L = L0 + L0 a T       where

L0 = initial length,   L = final length

a = coefficient of linear expansion, T = change in temperature

(L / L0 - 1) / T = a

(.01 / 2) / 100 = a = 5 * 10E-5 / deg C
