Solution:-

Given

l = 4cm

2r = 5mm => r= 2.5mm = 0.25cm

f=5kg-wt

f=  = 5×1000 g-wt  

f= 5000g-wt ×960D

y= 2.4×10^12 dyne cm∧2

Δl =?

Y= \frac{F}{\pi R^{2} Y}×\frac{l}{Δl}

Δl= Fl/\pir∧2y

=>5000×980×400/22/7×(0.25)∧2×2.4×10∧12

=>Δl= 0.0041cm
