Hello there
Good question
actually when smartphone started Nokia continued the production of keypad phones
then time pssed so fastly that most of the people have smartphone and no one was buying their mobiles .
Their stocks we not selling and company served a serious loss
due to this loss they were not in a situation that they can start production of new smartphones
that's why the company decided to sell their company and remaining stocks to Microsoft.
to keep them away from more loss .

because when lumia was launched nokia mobile sector saw a downfall in this competitive world drawbacks are window store which is not having many apps so its demand is decreased leading to the biggest strategical failure in the history of nokia so nokia sold its mobile division to microsoft so as to concentrate on its networks
