Answer :

Total Length = 24.5 cm

Difference = 0.3 cm

Explanation -

Given :

Length of one stick = 12.132 cm

Length of another stick = 12.4 cm

Rules for Rounding off -

Find the place value which you want to round off, and look at the digit just right of it.

If that digit is less than 5, do not change the rounding digit. But if it is equals to 5 or more than 5, then add 1 to the rounding digit.

Here - 12.132 ( 3 is in hundredth place value which is less than 5, so leave the tenth place value as it is)

12.132 cm = 12.1 cm

Finding the total length if they placed end to end -

Length of first stick + Length of second stick

12.1 + 12.4 = 24.5

Total Length = 24.5 cm

Finding the Difference -

Length of second stick - Length of first stick

12.4 - 12.1 = 0.3

Difference = 0.3 cm
