A sting of a bee or wasp is acidic in nature. Application of sodium bicarbonate, a basic substance can be used to nullify the effect. Can't we use some other base than sodium bicarbonate?​

Answer: Of course we can use any base to nullify the effect of anything with an acidic nature. Basically it is a neutralization reaction where water and a salt are formed. Water can be seen oozing out of the stinged area. For eg, we can use vinegar also.
