A stone falls freely under gravity. It covers
distances hi, he and h3 in the first 5 seconds,
the next 5 seconds and the next 5 seconds
respectively. The relation between hi, he and

h3 is
h2 _h3
5
(a) hi - 3
(b) h2 = 3h, and h3 = 3h2
h = h2 = h3
(c)

Answer and Explanation :

The options which you have given are not clear so I have assumed h1 , h2 , h3 heights for first 5 second , next 5 second and next 5 seconds respectively.

By Galileo's Law of odd numbers,

the ratio of heights covered in 1st , 2nd , 3rd seconds is 1:3:5 provided constant acceleration and equal intervals of time.

Therefore, here h1:h2:h3 = 1:3:5

Hence, 3 x h1 = h2

and 5 x h2 = 3 x h3
