u=40m/s

g=10

v=0

therefore,

u²=2gh

40²=2*10*h

h=80m

Given

initial speed at which the stone is thrown(u) = 40 m/s

Final speed of the stone(v) = 0 m/s

From equations of motion

v² = u² + 2( -g)h where h is height the stone rises

Note: - g is taken since the direction of stone is upwards i.e opposite to the direction of gravity.

0 = (40)² - 2(10)h

1600 = 20h

h = 80 m

Therefore height the stone will rise is 80 m.
