Question :-

A stone is thrown vertically upwards.When stone is at a height half of its maximum height , velocity = ?

Answer :

Potential energy at the maximum height = kinetic energy at bottom .

Let max height be h.

So middle height = h / 2

Potential energy would be m g h / 2

Kinetic energy = potential energy .

                        = m g h / 2

K = 1 / 2 m v²

⇒  1 / 2 m v² = 1 / 2 m g h

⇒ v² = g h

Hence the velocity will be g h
