Equations in use for this question are

v= u- gt

v final velocity u initial velocity g accln due to gravity and t time

-ve symbol because speed reduces when thrown upward due to gravity.

then we will use

KE = 1/2 m v2

From 1st eqn we get v=10 m/ s

and from 2nd eqn we will get

KE= 10 J

Given,

Mass of stone, m = 200 g = 0.2 kg

Velocity of the stone, v = 60 m/s

To find, The potential energy and kinetic energy after 5 sec

Solution,

Initial kinetic energy of the stone is :

K_i=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 0.2\times (60)^2=360\ J

Velocity of the stone after 5 seconds is :

v=u+at\\\\v=gt\\\\v=10\times 5=50\ m/s

Final kinetic energy,

K_f=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 0.2\times (50)^2=250\ J

So, the kinetic energy of the stone after 5 seconds is 250 Joules.
