A stone tied to a string is rotated in a circle. If the string is cut, the stone flies away from the circle because there is a continuous tendency of the mass to move in the tangent of the position. But it cannot because the continuous force exerted by the string provides it support. So, the stone moves in a straight line when the support provider is cut.
