Given

  • A stone is thrown up
  • Total Time = 16 sec
  • Acceleration = -10 m/s

To Find

  • Initial Velocity & Maximum height attained

Solution

☯ v = u + at

☯ v²- u² = 2as

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

According to the Question :

➞ v = u + at

➞ 0 = u + (-10 × 8)

➞ 0 = u - 80

➞ Initial velocity = 0 m/s

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

So then the maximum height would be,

➞ v²- u² = 2as

➞ 0² - 80² = 2(-10)(s)

➞ -6400 = -20s

➞ 6400/20 = s

➞ Maximum height = 320 m

Given :-

A stone tool 16second to return to its original position.

To Find :-

Initial Velocity

Maximum height

Solution :-

v = u + gt

0 = u + (-10)(16/2)

0 - u = (-10)(8)

-u = -80

u = 80 m/s

Now

v² - u² = 2gh

0² - 80² = 2(-10)(h)

0 - 6400 = -20h

-6400 = -20h

6400 = 20h

6400/20 = h

320 = h
