A stone was dropped on top of the 500-foot building. How long in seconds will the hit be heard if the sound speed is 1,080 feet per second? Neglecting air resistance.

We know.,Time=2*distance/speed
Time=2*500/1080
=1000/1080
=0.925 seconds

Convert the data first
1 foot = 0.305m
       given height,s=152.5m
                g=10
       speed of sound =329.4
 on analysing we get that  we have to find time period
first analyze the data and apply different formulas for it then see which formula suits the best.
         the formula that should be used here is
                                   s=ut+1/2at2
                          u=0,
                  152.5=0+1/2x10xtxt
we get t=5.522sec
 now the time for the resound=152.5/329
=0.4629 sec
 total time=5.52+0.4629=5.6889 sec
