A street accident I witnessed
It was a chilly winter morning and I was leaving for my early tuition class. As it was the month of November the cold was at its pinnacle. There was fog all over the place and the morning darkness was making the whole situation worse. It was really difficult to drive in that low visibility condition. Still, I was driving my scooter with the utmost precaution.
I left home on about 5:30 AM in the morning and was only 1 Km away from my coaching class when I saw the most disturbing site of my life. There was an old lady walking on the side of the street. She used to come for a morning walk daily on the same road. And I always used to wave to her and wished her good morning.
On that day too, I did the same but on the place of her smile, I saw another expression on her face. While she was walking on the road, suddenly an auto-rikshaw came to hit the old lady. everything happened right in front of my eyes. The driver left the place without thinking about the situation of the lady.
Without wasting a single second I left the scooter and went close to her. She was unconscious. I took my water bottle out and sprinkled some water on her face but it was no help. Then I decided to call the ambulance as no one from the crowd was taking any step. I was sitting by her side till the ambulance came and finally they took her to the hospital.
I was really happy and relieved after hearing about her well being. That day I understood the feeling one gets after helping someone selflessly. She still comes to the same road for a morning walk and whenever we meet there is a sense of blessing in her eyes for me!
