Area of the lane = l × b

=》 Area = 24 cm × 12 cm

=》 Area = 288 cm^{2}

Area of the tile = l × b

=》 Area = 12 cm × 10 cm

=》 Area = 120 cm^{2}


Number of tiles = \frac{288}{120}\\

=》 Number of tiles = 2.4 tiles

Since the tiles can't be in decimals, we can say that :-

We have to find the number of tiles to be paved with.

Let the number of tiles be 'x'

We can say that,

Area of the lane = Area of Tile × 'x'

That is,

 \tt{ \frac{Length \: \times \: Breadth ( \: Of \: lane ) }{ Length \: \times \: Breadth \: (of \: tile) }} = x

 \tt{\frac{24}{10} = x}

2.4 = x

Thus, Number of tiles cannot be expressed in decimals.

Thus, We can say that Number of tiles is approximately equal to 2.
