A string is wound around two circular disk as shown. If the radius of the two disk are 40 cm and 30 cm respectively. What is the total length of the string?​

The length of the string.

Solution:

1) As there is no diagram given in the question so we will consider that the circle is wounded separately.

2) If a string is wound over any circle then the circumference of the circle is covered over it.

3) Circumference of the circle having radius 40 cm.

  • C = 2πr
  •   = 2×3.14×40
  •   = 251.2 cm

4) Circumference of the circle having radius 30 cm.

  • C1 = 2πr1
  •     = 2×3.14×30
  •     = 188.4 cm

The total length of the string is C + C1 = 251.2 + 188.4 = 439.6 cm.
