in a solar cooker you need to use a thick sheet of glass. this help letting in only the longer wavelengths to pass through and not the short wavelength. the plastic sheet wont be able to stop the short and long wavelengths

Any normal solar cooker works best on the long solar wavelengths,due to the heating capabilities of the long solar wavelengths.
That's why we generally use glass sheets in the solar cookers, because it allows the long solar wavelengths to pass through.
But if we use thin plastic sheet ,it will reflect the long solar wavelengths,and as a result the solar cooker will not work properly.
