Hi , there !!;
here is your answer :-
a student black coating on Silver coins because as you know that many type of gases present in atmosphere like carbon dioxide nitrogen sulphur dioxide etc
in atmosphere when the sulphur dioxide is react with silver it turns into black in colour
the reaction that take place between the silver and Sulphur dioxide is
Ag + So2 => Ag2SO4
date of formation of silver Sulphate there is development of black colour on the surface of silver.
in the case of copper when the copper is react with Sulphur Dioxide resulting in development of green coating of copper sulphate on the surface of copper.
reaction that show reaction between Copper and Sulphur dioxide
Cu + So2 => CuSo4
through the reaction there is development of green colour of coating on copper
hope it helps !!
thanks !!
