Nationalist teneion emerged in the Balkans because the Balkan states were aspiring for nationalism. The Balkans was a region comprising modern day Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, The rebellions nationalities in the Balkans thought that their struggle was the attempt to win back their long-lost independence.

Balkans was a geographical and ethnic variation comprising of modern day Romania,Slovenia,Crotia,Serbiaetc,who's inhabitance were broadly known as slaves.The spread of romantic nationalism,together with disintegration of Ottoman Empire mad this region very explosive.Balkans based their claim for freedom of political rights.Rebellious nationalities in Balkans thought their struggle as their attempts to win their long lasting freedom.
