Find the total marks for 3 papers for 45%:

1 paper = 45% x 100 = 0.45 x 100 = 45 marks

3 papers = 45 x 3 = 135 marks

Find the total marks of the 2 papers:

35% x 100 = 0.35 x 100 = 35 marks

50% x 100 = 0.5 x 100 = 50 marks

Total marks = 50 + 35 = 85 marks

Find the marks needed for the 3rd paper:

3rd paper = 135 - 85 = 50 marks

Answer: He needs to get 50 marks for the 3rd paper to pass the exam.
