Solutions :-

Given :

A student has to secure 50% marks to pass.

He gets 163 marks and fails by 37 marks.
Total pass marks = (163 + 37) = 200

Let the maximum marks be x

A/q

=> 50% of x = 200
=> 0.50 × x = 200
=> 0.50x = 200
=> x = 200/0.50 = 400

Hence,
The maximum marks = 400

Solutions :-

Let the maximum marks be x

We have,

Percentage of marks to pass = 50% of total = 0.50 × x

He gets 163 marks and fails by 37 marks.
Total pass marks to pass exam = (163 + 37) = 200

Find the value of x :-

A/q

=> 0.50 × x = 200
=> 0.50x = 200
=> x = 200/0.50 = 400

Answer : Maximum marks to pass the exam = 400
