Ix is loamy or clay soil while Y is sandy soil this is because clay soil or loamy soil does not absorb water and sandy soil absorbs water faster than other soils

X is clay soil while Y is sandy soil.
The Clay soil is compactly packed with small particles. There are little gaps in clay soil and hence it does not allow water to seep through it. Clay soil is sticky and hence does not absorb more water . Minimum water is absorbed into the pores of Clay soil and it is wet. So water will remain on the surface of clay soil.
Sandy soil is loosely packed soil with comparatively larger and non sticky particles and other loose particles like small stones. Since it is loosely packed, It allows water to seep through it and hence water will flow through sandy soil and therefore water will not remain on the surface of sandy soil.
