when steel pins are placed near a bar magnet the steel pins itself behaves like a bar magnet.. y it happens so , the theory lies in the study of type of materials like ferromagnetic , paramagnetic or diamagnetic.. here the steel pins starts behaving like a magnet when placed in an external magnetic field , so the other pins gets attached to it....
