Answer- The student's answer was greater than the original answer by 11,106.

Given: Student multiplied 1234 by 32 instead of 23

To find: Difference between correct and incorrect answer

Solution:

Student's incorrect answer = 1234 x 32

Correct answer = 1234 x 23

⇒ Difference in answers = 1234 x 32 - 1234 x 23

= 1234 x (32 - 23) [distributive property]

= 1234 x 9

= 11,106

∴ His answer was greater than the correct answer by 11,106.
