Asexual reproduction in Hydra:
The sequence of the asexual reproduction taking place in the hydra is given in the image below.
The process is called budding.
- Hydra is a freshwater organism.
- It has tubular body.
- It has head and body.
- The head has tentacles and the body is attached to the surface.
Budding process:
- Due to repeated cell division, the small protruding structure appears on the parent organisms.
- Continuous cell division takes place till the organism is matured.
- Once the bud is matured then the bud gets detached from the parent organism.
- When it is detached, it leaves tiny scar in the body of parent organism.
The child organism is clone of parent organism as it is an asexual reproduction.
