A student opens his book and notes down the unit digit on the right hand page of his book He repeats
the process for 150 times. The following outcomes are recorded.

Based on the above information, find the probability of occurrence of:
(i) 1 or 4 as units digit.
(ii) At least 5 as the unit's digit.

The following outcomes are recorded.

To Find : probability of occurrence of:

(i) 1 or 4 as units digit.

(ii) At least 5 as the unit's digit.

Solution:

Total = 150

1  frequency  25

4 frequency  10

1 or 4 as unit digit = 25 + 10 = 35

Probability of occurrence of:  1 or 4 as units digit.   = 35/150

= 7/30

At least 5 as the unit's digit.

5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9

4  + 11 + 20 + 15 + 12 = 62

Probability of occurrence of at least 5 as the unit's digit.  = 62/150

= 31/75
