a student performed conductivity test for dil.Hcl,dil.CH3COOH, glucose and solid oxalic acid. Then what could be his observations and precautions to be taken​

The order of conductivity will be: HCl>CH₃COOH>Glucose>Solid Oxalic Acid

  1. HCl being a strong acid dissociates into H⁺ and Cl⁻. These ions conduct electricity.
  2. CH₃COOH is a weak acid. It partially dissociates into its constituent ions.
  3. Glucose is not an electrolyte. Hence doesn't dissociate at all in solution form. In this case, H⁺and OH⁻ from water conduct electricity.
  4. Solid oxalic acid does not conduct electricity at all due to the absence of ions.

The precautions to be followed are:

  1. Handle chemicals with care.
  2. Distilled water should be used to make glucose solution, Presence of any salt can change the observation.
