The student needs to get 88 marks out of 100 in his final math paper to obtain overall 72% marks

Solution:

Given that:

Marks in English = 60

Marks in physics = 50

Marks in economics = 90

Let's assume marks required in math’s = "x"

Required % = 72. The average of four subjects should be 72

Average = \frac{sum of marks in english, physics, economics, maths}{number of subjects}

72= \frac{60+50+90+x}{4}

72 \times 4 = 60 + 50 + 90 + x

x = 88

Hence student requires 88 marks out of 100 in mathematics
