Since, the submarine is under water at a depth of 608m hence it will be getting the sound wave back in an echo from the body of the aircraft.

Since the speed of the water is 1450 m/s and the time taken is 5sec from the body to reach the submarine (5+5) and hence the distance will be speed* time which will be 1450*5 = 7250m from the submarine and since the submarine is 608m down the sea the sound can also come through air medium as the aircraft is in air,
