The antibody is a substance in the blood tending to neutralize matter that is harmful.

  • An antibody is an important part of the immune system in the human body. It is basically a Y-shaped protein which identifies any foreign object (antigen) in our body and tries to destroy it.
  • There is a part of an antigen called an epitope. The antibody also has a part in each tip of "Y", called paratope. The paratope binds with the epitope part of the antigen and then attacks the infected cell or part of a cell.
  • In the human body, there are five types of antibodies, IgA, IgG, IgD, IgE and IgM.
