CaO (Calcium oxide) is extensively used in ‘cement industry. The amount of calcium in the bones determine the strength of the bone calcium and water together forms calcium hydroxide which is alkaline and converts red litmus paper blue.

The balanced chemical equation formed will be -

CaO +H2O ------- Ca(OH)2

Calcium hydroxide which is an base..thus turns red litmus to blue.
