A sum of ₹800 is of the form of denomination of ₹10 and ₹20 . If the total number of notes be 50 . find the number of notes of each type .

10x+20y=800 ......... (I)

x+y=50 ...... (II)

multiply (I) by 10 we get

10x+10y=500 .... (III)

subtract (III) from (I) we get

10y=300

the number of notes of Rs10 is 20 and Rs 20 is 30
