A small correction in your Question.

Correct Question :

A sum of money is divided among three persons. X, Y and Z in the ratio 10 : 7 : 5. If Y gets Rs. 14 more than Z, how much will X get ?

Solution :

Let the unknown money (amount's value) be 'a'

The Ratio will be 10a : 7a : 5a

We know that,

X : Y : Z = 10a : 7a : 5a

Hence,

  • X = 10a ------- (1)
  • Y = 7a -------- (2)
  • Z = 5a -------- (3)

According to the question :

It is given that, Y gets 14 more than Z, which can be written as,

→ Y = 14 + Z

(Substitute Y & Z's value from (2) & (3))

→ 7a = 14 + 5a

→ 14 = 7a - 5a

→ 14 = 2a

→ 2a = 14

→ a = 14 / 2

→ a = 7

Substituting 'a' value in (1), (2) & (3) :

→ X = 10a = 10 × 7 = 70

→ Y = 7a = 7 × 7 = 49

→ Z = 5a = 5 × 7 = 35

Hence, X gets ₹70, Y gets ₹49 and Z gets ₹35.
