a sum of RS 400 is in the from of denomination of RS 5 and RS 10. if the total number of coins is 40 find the number of Rs.10 and Rs. 5 coins.

Let the number of ₹10 be X

₹5 be Y

A/Q

X+Y=40. ..Eq.1

10x+5y=400. ...Eq.2

Multiply Eq.1 with 5 and subract with Eq2.

10x+5y=400

5x+5y=200. (-)

5x. =200

Therefore X= 40

Sub X=40 in Eq1

40+Y=40

Y=0

Terefore the number of ₹10 coins are 40 and ₹5 is 0
