Let x and y be number of coins in each type Rs.1 and Rs.0.50 respectively

As per the given information,

x+y=90..........(1)

and

1x+0.50y=50

x+0.50y=50............(2)

subtracting (2) from (1)

x+y=90... .....(1)

x+0.50y=50...(2)

------------------

0.50y=40

y=40/0.50

y=80

put x=80 in (1), we get

x+80=90

x=10

Therefore, there are 10 one rupee coins and 80 fifty paise coins

There are '10' one rupee coins and '80' fifty paisa coins.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given in the question

Sum of the 1 rupee and 50 paisa coins = 50 Rs.

Total number of coins = 90

We have to find the number of coins of each type.

Let the number of coins 1 rupee and 50 paisa be x and y respectively.

According to the question,

x + y = 90             ..........(i)

and

1x + 0.50y = 50

x + 0.50y = 50         ............(ii)

Now, subtracting (ii) from (i)

0.50y = 40

y = \frac{40}{0.50}

y = 80

Put the value of y in eq. (i)

x + 80 = 90

x = 90 - 80

x = 10

Therefore, there are '10' one rupee coins and '80' fifty paisa coins.
