Answer:

Let the first prize be x

so other three prizes are x-200,x-400&x-600

so by the condition given in the question

x+x-200+x-400+x-600=2800

4x-1200=2800

4x=4000

x=1000

Step-by-step explanation:

Answer:

Let the amount of first prize be x

Now we are given that each prize after the 1st is rs 200 less than the preceding prize

So, the second prize is x-200

So, thirsd prize is x-200-200=x-400

So, fourth prize = x-400-200=x-600

Since we are given that A sum of rs 2800 is to be used to award 4 prizes

So,

So, first prize =1000

Second prize = 1000-200=800

Third prize = 800-200=600

Fourth prize = 600-200=400

Answer:

Let the first prize be x

So according to question, other prizes will be (x - 200 ) , ( x - 400 ) , ( x - 600)

Sum of all prizes is 2800

x + (x - 200 ) + ( x - 400 ) + ( x - 600) = 2800

4x - 1200 = 2800

4x = 2800 + 1200

4x = 4000

x = 4000/4

x = 1000

So ,

  • First prize is Rs 1000
  • Second is Rs 800
  • Third is Rs 600
  • Fourth is Rs 400
