Answer :-

Number of Rs. 5 notes are 80 and number of Rs. 10 notes are 10.

Solution :-

Let the number of Rs. 5 notes be x

Total number of Rs. 10 and Rs. 5 = 90

Number of Rs. 10 = Total number of notes - Number of  Rs. 5 = (90 - x)

Money in the denomination Rs. 10 = 10(90 - x) = Rs. (900 - 10x)

Total money  = Rs. 500

⇒ Money in the denomination Rs. 5 + Money in the denomination Rs. 10 = 500

⇒ 5x + 900 - 10x = 500

⇒ - 5x + 900 = 500

⇒ 900 - 500 = 5x

⇒ 400 = 5x

⇒ 400/5 = x

⇒ 80 = x

⇒ x = 80

Number of Rs. 5 notes = x = 80

Number of Rs. 10 notes = (90 - x) = (90 - 80) = 10

∴ Number of Rs. 5 notes are 80 and number of Rs. 10 notes are 10.

Verification :-

Let us check

5x + 10(90 - x)  = 500

Substitute the number of notes in each denominations

⇒ 5(80) + 10(10) = 500

⇒ 400 + 100 = 500

⇒ 500 = 500
