Dear Students,

# Complete question -

Q. A swimming pool can be filled by pipe A in 3 hours and by pipe b in 6 hours, each pump working on its own. At 9 am pump A started. At what time will the swimming pool be filled if pump B started at 10 am ?

◆ Answer -

11:20 am

◆ Explanation -

Pump A can fill pool by 1/3rd in 1 hour and pump B can fill 1/6th part in 1 hour.

Let x hrs be time taken to fill the swimming pool.

x×1/3 + (x-1)×1/6 = 1

2x + x-1 = 6

3x - 1 = 6

x = 7/3 hrs

x = 2 hrs 20 min

So swimming pool will be filled at -

T = 9 am + 2:20 hrs

T = 11:20 am

Therefore, swimming pool will be filled at 11:20 am.

Best luck dear...
