a table costs Rs 200 more than a chair the prices of two tables and three chair is Rs 1400. find the cost of each.​

let the cost of table be x and chair be y

Now by statement 1 , x=y+200.......................(1)

by statement 2 , 2x + 3y = 1400 ...........................(2)

Putting value of x in equation 2 we get

2(y+200) +3y = 1400

5y +400 = 1400

5y = 1400- 400

y = 1000/5 =200

cost of chair = 200 rs.

cost of table by equation 200+200 = 400rs.
