A table cover size 4m*2m is spread ona meeting table.If a uniform width of 25cm of the table covered is hanging all around table.Find the cost of polishing at 2.25 per sq. m

You are talking about the area of table top, right ?

Cover length = 4 m = 400 cm
Cover breadth = 2 m = 200 cm

So, table length = 400 - 25 = 375 cm = 3.75 m
      table breadth = 200 -25 = 175 cm = 1.75 m 

Area of table top = 3.75 X 1.75 sq.m = 6.5625 sq. m
Rate of polishing =  Rs 2.25 per 1 sq. m

So, cost = Rs 14.765625

surface area to be polished = upper area + 4(side area)
                                        =4X2 + 4(4X(0.25))
                                        =12 m^2
total cost=12X2.25=27
