Granite is an intrusive acidic rock, which means it has a higher percentage of silica, SiO2, based minerals such as quartz, plagiarizes, orthoclase and feldspar's, than it does Fe/Mg based minerals. Granite is lighter than basalt. The granitic continents float on the basaltic ocean crust tectonic plates.
